Born in Ancona in 1972, I spent 3 years of my childhood in North England and received my first camera as a present from my family when I was 5 years old.

During my teenage years I studied at Liceo Classico Rinaldini in Ancona – where subjects included History of Art, Philosophy, History, Literature, Latin, Ancient Greek, Chemistry and Physics.
While growing up I spent a lot of time with my grandfather, Emo Pandolfi, who was a painter.
He did hundreds of portraits, sometimes commissioned, but also landscapes, still life and religious paintings. He painted every day in his studio from 7am until there was natural light available.
During the fascist era he had been one of the rebels that fought against Mussolini’s dictatorship and puppet regime.

After high school I lived in Bologna where I attended the public photography lectures at the Accademia di Belle Arti.
I also joined their practical photography and darkroom workshops thanks to the course’s tutor who let me participate, despite not being enrolled.

When I was 22 I moved to London where I completed a 1 year Professional Development Award in Photography and Printing Techniques at the London College of Printing (now London College of Communication) – University of the Arts.

I then started photographing London’s youth culture, punk, nu-metal and hardcore rock bands – as well as my friends and people around me, while also undertaking commissions from a number of clients.
A large part of my youth culture photography was taken on 35mm negative and slide film with a Nikon FE2 camera in the late 90s – early 2000s.

which was supported by the Assessorato alla Cultura of Ancona

My photographs have been used by, amongst others, The Economist, The Guardian, Arts Council England, L’Espresso, Channel 4, Reuters, Elle, Time Out, URB Magazine, Community Care Magazine, Roadrunner Records, Metal Hammer, AKQA, the Royal Society of Medicine and Royal Society of Chemistry.
